Providence Medical Center

Case Study: Renovating the Providence Medical Center by Engaging Regional Support through a Capital Campaign

Background

Providence Medical Center (PMC) is a well-respected regional healthcare provider known for delivering high-quality care in Wayne, Nebraska. However, with critical physical space improvements already underway, PMC faced the challenge of gaining community support and ensuring residents understood the importance of the renovation project.

The Challenge

Despite the ongoing construction, PMC experienced a lack of community buy-in and understanding of the project’s scope and associated costs. Ensuring broad community engagement and financial backing was crucial for the success of the campaign and future initiatives.

The SNS Solution

Strawhecker Nonprofit Services (SNS) conducted a Philanthropic Planning Study that provided key insights into community perceptions of PMC and the renovation effort. The study outlined a clear fundraising strategy, identified potential volunteer leaders, and highlighted significant donor and grant opportunities, offering a structured approach to launch a successful campaign.

The Outcome

With the guidance of SNS, the hospital CEO and Foundation Director PMC implemented an effective campaign. Not only was $2.5 million in funding secured, but it also fostered greater community understanding and support for the medical center’s role in regional healthcare.
