Throughout my career in nonprofit organizations, one observation has struck me about those who commit themselves to the nonprofit sector. It is a motivation beyond the work we do personally. It is the result of our collective work together which is at the essence of nonprofits. It is helping others; It is doing GOOD; And feeling fulfilled by doing our part to make society a better place. It is the NONPROFIT HEART!
It has also struck me when teaching, that those who are looking to change professions and find a role in the nonprofit sector, are doing this because they are missing something. They have the NONPROFIT HEART but are unfilled in the for-profit sector. The calling of doing good and its meaning is the attraction.
