Ann Volin
Senior Consultant
An experienced director with a humanities education and academic background, Ann is motivated to help nonprofit organizations perform at their best level. She likes to activate improvements by engaging the top qualities of all participants. Ann brought this strategic viewpoint to the South Dakota Humanities Council, where she helped broaden the reach of programs across the state while strengthening the staff framework. She also led the Aylward-Dunn Learning Center at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, increasing tutoring sessions by approximately 2,000%. Her experiences mean that she can see how dynamic changes positively impact a wide circle of participants, no matter the size of the organization.
Ann has a doctorate in English from the University of Kansas. She writes in many forms besides grant writing, including poetry, and memoirs. She is an experienced editor to include her work editing dissertations. Her one overriding goal in all circumstances is to leave a situation better than it was when she first began.
Ann and her husband Rick live in South Dakota, their home state, where they are restoring her grandparents’ farmstead. They intend to preserve its historical elements while addressing twenty-first-century sustainability and profitability needs.
